Future of kunanyi / Mt Wellington

The TNPA has responded to a recently-concluded Tasmanian Government survey on the future of kunanyi. We argue the key natural and cultural values of The Mountain need to be preserved, protected and enhanced. In particular, it is important to manage The Mountain for a full range of users without the experience of one user category impacting unnecessarily on the experience of other user categories. The answer is not to construct additional infrastructure to facilitate even more visitors. The only solution which will maintain the quality of the experience for all visitors is to manage access to prevent overuse at particular locations at peak periods.
