Special issue – Wildfire and fire management in Western Tasmania
This special issue of TNPA News is primarily about wildfire in Tasmania, in particular western Tasmania. The included invited essays come from a range of perspectives reflecting the breadth and complexity of the issues. The publication attempts to move discussion about wildfire in Tasmania beyond a debate about the best technologies for fire suppression to a realistic consideration of what fire management should be trying to achieve and what it can achieve. The context, however, is a broader concern about the ongoing effects of rapid human-induced climate change and its effect on our priorities for nature conservation.
