A World Heritage Mission visited Tasmania in 2008 to assess the impact of forestry operations on the values of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA).

The TNPA called for a comprehensive review and holistic consideration of TWWHA boundaries and management. The inadequacy of the existing TWWHA boundary, need for additional areas with World Heritage values to be added to the TWWHA, and inadequate existing management were all highlighted.
